Founded in 1991, the Natya Vriksha Institution is a registered cultural organisation that enshrines the best philosophies of Indian classical culture. In Geeta’s words, Natya Vriksha’s raison d’étre is to EN-DANCE THE UNIVERSE! At Natya Vriksha, we aim to make the youth aware of the immense potential of the arts and Bharatanatyam to become a life voyage of learning.

Mission

The Mission of Natya Vriksha is twofold.

The first is to create sensitive and sensitized citizens through the process of holistic learning of Bharatnatyam as a performing art and the second, to create work in the mainstream space for both solo and group.

With the first mission, the aim is to provide this beautiful tradition of the performing art to students to take forward the values and process of holistic learning, not only in the practise and performance of the art form, but in any other avenue or profession that they choose to.

With the second, the aim is to create a collaborative space for artists to share and own together in the collective, and to create space to transmit tradition while also remaining relevant to the day’s issues by encouraging critical thinking and awareness to topical issues.

Vision

Natya Vriksha seeks to explore with, and demonstrate to young dancers and future audience for dance, the continuing relevance of this classical tradition in a world of changing values.

The ethos is to explore through experiential learning, where the space, discipline and other aspects are all geared towards providing an interdisciplinary and holistic view of the art form.
